A simple combination of presets I use for a lot of my work and will keep coming back to.
01 Legacy Colour:
My most frequently used preset is the starting point for most of my editing. I wanted this preset to enhance what the light and colours in raw images offer, rather than paste a heavy layer of adjustments that turn the image into something entirely different.
This preset comes with two versions: warmer- and cooler-toned. Depending on the lighting and the season, I often go between the two. In colder light, the warmer version brings more warmth to skintones without overwhelming other colours in the scene, whereas the cooler-toned version can help to have the reverse effect when a frame is predominantly made of a warmer colour palette.
02 Legacy B&W:
Heavily based on Ilford Delta 100 Film, it’s a timeless black and white that works for street images without being too hard, so portraits and other settings.
Typically, the only adjustments I need to make are in the tone curve. I’ve become more mindful of using less contrast to avoid losing details in the shadows, and this preset takes this into account.
As always, presets are a starting point. I’ve experimented with many different ones over the years, and with these I’ve put together, I’ve focused on simplifying and achieving a more subtle look than in the past.
Enjoy! - Matt
